Wireless Infrastructure Group expands platform with the acquisition of 1,100 towers from Cellnex UK

24 October 2022 – Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a portfolio of approximately 1,100 wireless infrastructure assets from Cellnex UK Limited (Cellnex). The transaction is expected to complete in Q4 2022.

WIG is an experienced operator of wireless infrastructure assets with a successful track record of supporting mobile and other wireless network operators to deliver coverage and connectivity solutions across the UK. WIG has operated as an independent tower company for over 15 years and has invested heavily in its management platform to match its focus on customer delivery.

On completion of the transaction, WIG will take control of the portfolio and customer engagement and has agreed a comprehensive set of transitional arrangements with Cellnex to ensure customers and other stakeholders are supported fully through the transition process.

WIG’s CEO, Scott Coates, commented:

‘This is a significant opportunity to extend our premium services across these new assets and to ensure the best possible infrastructure delivery for customers moving forward’.

WIG was founded in 2007 and is the UK’s longest standing independent tower company. Over the last 15 years, WIG has invested to develop sustainable communications infrastructure across the UK that transforms mobile connectivity across urban and rural communities, on city streets and inside buildings.

WIG’s management platform has enabled over 5,000 customer upgrade projects in recent years and supports over 20,000 separate infrastructure activities across its portfolio each year.

WIG is backed by Brookfield Infrastructure Partners, one of the largest global infrastructure investors and private owners of towers and other data infrastructure assets.
