The challenge

Canary Wharf’s subterranean retail centres and striking mixed-use high-rises pose major challenges for mobile connectivity, with energy-efficient glass, steel, and concrete blocking external signals across offices, shops, and restaurants. With over 80 million visitors passing through each year, delivering a seamless, reliable mobile experience in this world-class business district is no small feat. Canary Wharf Group (CWG) needed a high-capacity, future-ready solution that could handle today’s demands while scaling effortlessly with the estate’s ongoing growth and demand for access to evolving mobile technologies.

The solution

CWG chose WIG to design and deliver a dedicated, future-ready mobile connectivity solution across the entire Canary Wharf estate. Our network provides seamless coverage from the subterranean retail areas to the commercial and residential high-rises, as well as busy outdoor spaces across the campus. Recognising the critical need for reliable, high-capacity connectivity in such a dense and high-demand environment, we deployed one of the UK’s largest and most sophisticated campus networks, achieved through close collaboration with CWG all of the UK’s mobile network operators.
