Supporting Digital Leaders Across Scotland

The Scotland Digital Infrastructure Group (SDIG) exists to support and empower digital infrastructure leads across Scotland’s local authorities.

The group provides a dedicated platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange and strategic discussion, helping local authorities accelerate digital deployment in ways that deliver meaningful benefits for communities, public services and local businesses.

While the current focus is on the strategic use of outdoor small cells, SDIG maintains a technology-neutral approach. This ensures discussions remain relevant not just to immediate priorities, but to the evolving digital infrastructure landscape across Scotland.

Key themes:

Empowerment – Strengthening the ability of local authority leads to confidently drive digital infrastructure initiatives.

Knowledge Exchange – Sharing expertise, lessons learned and best practice to build stronger technical and strategic capability.

Economic Impact – Ensuring infrastructure investment translates into tangible outcomes for businesses, residents and public services.

Future-Proofing – Maintaining a technology-agnostic perspective while addressing current opportunities such as outdoor small cell deployment.
