About the role

We’re looking for an experienced estates professional to play a key role in delivering WIG’s Estates policies and strategy, helping us develop our estate and achieve our wider business objectives.

As our in-house subject matter expert, you’ll manage a varied caseload of transactional and property management matters with autonomy, acting as a trusted partner across the business. You’ll work closely with teams including Network Services, Finance, Site Access, Site Maintenance, Health & Safety and Legal to support the effective management of our 3,000+ site portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Transactional Projects

  • Manage your own caseload of estates transactional projects, negotiating within agreed parameters to secure best value for the business.
  • Deliver projects on time and in line with programme requirements, preparing robust business cases supported by thorough due diligence where required.

Property Management

  • Oversee property management activities across WIG’s estate in the UK and Republic of Ireland, managing assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and statutory obligations to stakeholders including landlords, neighbours, customers and local authorities.
  • Identify and mitigate site-level risks to ensure the portfolio remains fully operational and accessible.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure a safe working environment for all site attendees.

Project Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for partners and suppliers, ensuring delivery against service levels and programme timelines.
  • Lead regular review meetings, resolving issues, removing blockers and providing guidance to keep projects on track.

Customer Rollout

  • Support Network Services by advising on property agreements and securing landlord consents as needed, ensuring timely delivery.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with landlords, neighbours and local communities to support site development and maximise portfolio usage.
  • Engage proactively with WIG’s customers, enhancing our reputation for flexibility and reliable delivery.
  • Manage external supplier relationships to ensure estates transactions meet service levels and align with commercial objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues across the business, reinforcing the estates team’s role as a key partner.

Support & Guidance

  • Provide mentoring and support to graduate surveyors as part of WIG’s Graduate Training Programme.

Compliance & Security

  • Contribute actively to WIG’s health & safety, environmental, business continuity and information security commitments, ensuring compliance across all areas.

The ideal candidate will have

Experience (Technical & Industry)

  • Broad experience in estates and property management.
  • Proven negotiation skills, including preparation of written instructions to solicitors.
  • Hands-on track record delivering estates transactions such as lease renewals, freehold acquisitions, open market rent reviews and assignments.
  • Solid understanding of the Electronic Communications Code, the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954, relevant case law and the UK/Ireland telecommunications property market.
  • Practical valuation experience.

Desired:

  • Experience undertaking valuations in line with the principles of the Electronic Communications Code.
  • Knowledge of property regimes across England & Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Education & Qualifications

  • RICS Chartered Surveyor (minimum one year post-qualification experience).

Desired:
