{"id":2555,"date":"2018-05-15T15:27:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T14:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wirelessinfrastructure.com\/us\/?post_type=resource&#038;p=2555"},"modified":"2026-01-14T14:27:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T14:27:12","slug":"wig-enables-4g-cellular-services-at-anfield","status":"publish","type":"resource","link":"https:\/\/www.wirelessinfrastructure.com\/us\/insights\/wig-enables-4g-cellular-services-at-anfield\/","title":{"rendered":"WIG enables 4G mobile services at Anfield"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section id=\"simple-text-block_783684ddcb38992b20faaeb1a42c9443\" data-jump=\"\"\n    class=\"body-push simple-text\" style=\"\">\n\n    <div class=\"limit-width\">\n\n        <div class=\"row\">\n\n            <div class=\"content column text-m\">\n\n                \n                    <p>Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) has announced the activation of 4G cellular services across Anfield Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The new stadium-wide network was designed and deployed by WIG working with O<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0and Vodafone in the first phase of deployment.\u00a0The service is available to O<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0and Vodafone customers initially, with plans to roll the service out to other networks at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>The network was successfully tested during the last few games of the season, enhancing the matchday experience for fans, visitors and staff.\u00a0\u00a0The investment follows the expansion of Anfield Stadium which is part of a wider regeneration initiative to improve the Anfield area where the club is based.<\/p>\n<p>Fans who are attending the highly-anticipated international friendly at Anfield, Brazil v. Croatia, on Saturday June 3, will be the first to benefit from improved connectivity at the Stadium. Fans will be able to keep up to date with the latest news, sporting results and share images of their time at Anfield whilst attending the game.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Robinson, Head of Technology &amp; Transformation, at Liverpool Football Club said:\u00a0\u201cPutting our fans first, improving their matchday experience and helping them to enjoy their time at Anfield is integral to our strategy.\u00a0\u00a0Providing consistent mobile coverage at scale to 54,000 fans is very challenging and slow mobile data speeds can be frustrating for fans. Using expertise from WIG we\u2019re tackling this challenge with high quality 4G services throughout the stadium to provide a much better match day experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott Coates, CEO at Wireless Infrastructure Group said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBusy venues like football stadiums need dedicated wireless infrastructure and Liverpool FC\u2019s focus on improving connectivity for its fans has been key to the success of the project. WIG delivers high capacity neutral-host infrastructure in busy and often challenging locations and this is only possible through trusted relationships with the UK\u2019s mobile operators and with venues such as Anfield.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Brendan O\u2019Reilly, Chief Network Officer O<sub>2<\/sub>, said: \u201cWe\u2019re committed to investing in our network for our customers in Liverpool and are delighted to be working with WIG to bring 4G to Anfield.
