{"id":2400,"date":"2025-03-12T13:49:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-12T13:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wirelessinfrastructure.com\/us\/?post_type=resource&#038;p=2400"},"modified":"2026-01-14T09:35:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T09:35:08","slug":"wig-partnership-mno","status":"publish","type":"resource","link":"https:\/\/www.wirelessinfrastructure.com\/us\/insights\/wig-partnership-mno\/","title":{"rendered":"Wireless Infrastructure Group in partnership with EE, Vodafone and Virgin Media O2 delivers seamless cellular connectivity to UK\u2019s fourth largest airport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section id=\"simple-text-block_90c2842a97d876bbb76fb1bafcc8a75a\" data-jump=\"\"\n    class=\"body-push simple-text bg-light is-white\" style=\"--bg:255, 255, 255, 1;--fg:0, 0, 0, 1;\">\n\n    <div class=\"limit-width\">\n\n        <div class=\"row\">\n\n            <div class=\"content column text-m\">\n\n                \n                    <h2><strong>WIG has \u2018switched-on\u2019 a new dedicated indoor cellular network to deliver an enhanced<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>passenger experience at Stansted airport.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Britain\u2019s fourth largest airport,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanstedairport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stansted<\/a> now offers fast, resilient cellular connectivity to<br \/>\nover 29 million passengers a year thanks to a new indoor network designed and<br \/>\ndelivered by Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) in partnership with EE, Vodafone,<br \/>\nVirgin Media O2 and Manchester Airports Group.<\/p>\n<p>WIG is the UK\u2019s leading developer of high-quality multi-operator infrastructure for busy<br \/>\npublic venues with demanding construction and operating requirements.<\/p>\n<p>Working collaboratively with the airport and three MNO partners, WIG deployed a<br \/>\nDistributed Antenna System (DAS) designed to transform indoor cellular signal and<br \/>\nprovide seamless cellular connectivity for passengers in all areas of the airport including<br \/>\nterminals, gates, baggage reclaim and operational \u2018back-of-house\u2019 areas.<br \/>\nStansted is home to 15 airlines and 65 retailers and has around 108,000 passengers<br \/>\ntravel through it daily during the peak summer period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andy King, Sales Director for Indoor Networks at WIG<\/strong>, said: \u201c<em>WIG delivers high-quality<br \/>\nand sustainable indoor connectivity solutions to more busy public venues across the<br \/>\nUK than any other provider, and we were ideally placed to manage the challenges of<br \/>\nbuilding and operating infrastructure in one of the UK\u2019s busiest airports. Our cutting edge network enables exceptional mobile services, benefiting everyone travelling through and working at Stansted airport.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Adrian Corthine, Senior Project Manager, Vodafone<\/strong>, said: \u201c<em>Since we switched on the<br \/>\nsystem at Stansted there has been a significant change in the experience for our mobile<br \/>\ncustomers. Airports are some of the highest footfall locations and so having a dedicated<br \/>\nindoor network solution allows our customers to enjoy fast and reliable 4G coverage<br \/>\nand to download everything they need before boarding their aircraft<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new solution delivered by WIG divides the airport into distinct coverage sectors,<br \/>\neach with its own distributed antenna infrastructure. It overcomes cellular service<br \/>\nchallenges in traditionally hard-to-reach areas, such as the high dwell zones in the<br \/>\nterminals, baggage handling areas and the spaces surrounded by thick concrete walls<br \/>\nor modern building materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Richard Taylor, Senior Planning Manager \u2013 Special Projects, Virgin Media O2<\/strong>, said: \u201c<em>At<br \/>\nVirgin Media O2, our Mobile Transformation Plan is focused on improving the experience<br \/>\nfor customers in the moments that matter most.
